Ian R. Vasquez

I’m Ian, a visual artist based in New York City. Born and raised, I spent my childhood noticing small details that encased entire lives within the city, and began documenting them through photography. I learned organically, taking every opportunity to go out and shoot with experienced photographers, picking up technical knowledge and constantly searching for new perspectives. I work with both film and digital, and I love to work in the studio or outside of it, collaborating with subjects to create and execute our visions.

I shoot landscapes, portraits, street photography and editorial-style concepts, with the core of my photography grounded in the same things that started me out—artistic curiosity, community, and the collaborative process that always yields unique results.

When I’m not out taking photos, I like to sketch, try new recipes, and scour the city for inspiration.
